Beginning immediately, The Morehead Minute will become a subscription-based publication.
All articles published before this change will remain available to everyone at no charge. Because those stories were originally published as free content, they could not be placed behind the new paywall.
Going forward, however, all newly published articles will be available exclusively to paid subscribers. Current free subscribers will need to upgrade to a paid subscription to continue receiving full access to our local reporting.
Since launching in March, The Morehead Minute has worked to provide timely, independent coverage of the stories affecting Morehead, Rowan County, and our surrounding communities. We have reported breaking news, investigated matters of public concern, celebrated local accomplishments, preserved community history, and covered stories that larger news organizations often overlook.
Producing that coverage requires considerable time, research, travel, communication, and operating expense. Advertising, sponsorships, and voluntary contributions have not generated enough consistent support to keep the publication operating under its current free model.
This was not a decision made lightly. However, if The Morehead Minute is going to remain active, independent, and sustainable, reader-supported subscriptions are now necessary.
To everyone who has read, followed, shared, and supported our work: thank you. Your support helped The Morehead Minute grow into a trusted source of local information in only a few short months.
We hope you will choose to become a paid subscriber and help ensure that independent local journalism continues in our community.
