CARTER COUNTY, Ky. — The drowning death of a 19-year-old Ashland woman at a Carter County lake has been ruled accidental, according to information released by the Carter County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Marly Kinney, 19, died after drowning in a lake in Carter County. The circumstances surrounding her death were presented to a grand jury as part of the investigation.

According to the Commonwealth’s Attorney, the grand jury reported its finding in Kinney’s death on Friday, September 11, determining that the death was accidental.

No criminal charges have been filed in connection with Kinney’s death.

The determination brings the legal review of the circumstances surrounding Kinney’s death to a close without an indictment.
