BATH COUNTY, Ky. — The Olympian Springs Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating the accomplishments of one of its youngest members following his successful completion of a Junior Firefighter Training Weekend.

Thomas Roland recently completed the three-day training program, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing skills that will help prepare him for a future in the fire service.

Throughout the training weekend, Roland demonstrated dedication, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn—qualities that are essential for those pursuing a role in emergency services.

The Olympian Springs Volunteer Fire Department publicly congratulated Roland on his achievement, emphasizing the importance of encouraging young people to become involved in their communities through volunteer firefighting.

"The future of the fire service starts with young people willing to step up, put in the work, and serve their communities," the department stated in a Facebook announcement.

Volunteer fire departments play an important role in protecting rural Kentucky communities, where firefighters often dedicate their personal time to training, responding to emergencies, and serving their neighbors.

Junior firefighter programs offer young people an opportunity to learn about the fire service, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and gain an appreciation for the responsibilities associated with emergency response.

The Olympian Springs Volunteer Fire Department expressed pride in having Roland as part of its firefighting family and encouraged him to continue his hard work.

The Morehead Minute congratulates Thomas Roland on his accomplishment and recognizes the Olympian Springs Volunteer Fire Department for its commitment to encouraging the next generation of firefighters.
