BATH COUNTY, Ky. — A Bath County woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl and being a persistent felony offender, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Misty Helton was sentenced on August 5, 2026, after pleading guilty to Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, First Degree, First Offense (fentanyl) and Persistent Felony Offender, First Degree.
According to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Helton received a total sentence of 15 years and must serve 10 years before becoming eligible for parole.
The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Detective Robert Workman and Detective Dalton Hayes utilized an informant to conduct a controlled purchase of fentanyl from Helton. The investigation ultimately resulted in the charges that led to her guilty plea and sentencing.
In announcing the sentence, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office thanked the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for its continued work combating illegal drug activity.
“The Commonwealth Attorney's Office would like to thank the Sheriff's Department for their continued efforts to combating the drug epidemic,” the office stated.
