
CLEARFIELD, Ky. — Authorities are investigating a fatal bicycle accident that occurred Tuesday evening in the Clearfield community of Rowan County.
According to the Rowan County Coroner’s Office, Morehead-Rowan County 911 received a call at approximately 7:39 p.m. reporting a bicycle accident near the 3100 block of McBrayer Road in Clearfield.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and the Rowan County Coroner was requested to assist with the investigation.
Officials said a 64-year-old Clearfield man was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. by Rowan County Coroner John P. Northcutt. Preliminary findings indicate the man apparently lost control of the electric bicycle he was operating and was ejected from the bike.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by Rowan County Sheriff's Department Detective Robbie Duncan and Coroner Northcutt.
Responding agencies included Rowan County EMS and the Morehead Fire Department.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification procedures and the ongoing investigation.
