GRAYSON, Ky. — A 23-year-old Ashland man is facing charges after authorities say one of the passengers on his boat was reported missing at Grayson Lake earlier this week.

According to court records, Cameron Conley notified staff at Grayson Lake Marina on June 24 that a 19-year-old female who had been aboard his boat could not be located. The report prompted a large-scale search involving the Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, and numerous other emergency responders.

During the investigation, troopers reportedly detected the odor of alcohol coming from Conley. Court documents state that he acknowledged consuming alcohol and agreed to a preliminary breath test.

Authorities allege the test produced blood alcohol readings of 0.137 and 0.135, both above Kentucky's legal limit for operating a boat.

Conley was arrested and charged with operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants. He was booked into the Carter County Detention Center and has since been released.

Meanwhile, the search for the missing 19-year-old continues. Multiple local, state, and federal agencies have joined the effort, utilizing boats, aircraft, drones, K-9 teams, and other specialized resources in an ongoing attempt to locate her.

As with all criminal cases, the charge against Conley is an allegation. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
