FLEMINGSBURG, KY - In the midst of what was likely one of the most difficult days for a family, a Fleming County Sheriff's deputy demonstrated that law enforcement is about far more than enforcing the law.
According to the Fleming County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Logan Mullins responded to an injury accident on Mt. Sterling Road on Thursday. While assisting those involved in the crash, Mullins found himself taking on a role that no academy can truly prepare an officer for—comforting and caring for an infant while emergency responders worked at the scene.
The Sheriff's Office shared a photograph of Deputy Mullins holding the child, noting that moments like these serve as a reminder of the many responsibilities deputies carry beyond their traditional law enforcement duties.
"Some days in law enforcement are tougher than others, and you never know what you'll face when the call comes in," the agency wrote in a social media post.
The Sheriff's Office went on to emphasize that deputies are often called upon not only to protect and serve, but also to comfort people during some of the worst moments of their lives.
"We are thankful for Deputy Mullins' compassion and professionalism, and we ask everyone to keep those involved in today's accident in your thoughts as they recover," the post concluded.
The Morehead Minute joins the Fleming County Sheriff's Office in wishing everyone involved in the accident a full and speedy recovery. Moments such as these highlight the compassion and humanity that first responders often show behind the scenes—acts of kindness that frequently go unnoticed but can make all the difference during a crisis.
