FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. — The Flemingsburg Police Department has achieved a perfect score in a Kentucky League of Cities safety and liability review, marking the first time in the department’s history it has earned a 100% rating.
Flemingsburg Police Chief Daniel Pollock announced the achievement Tuesday, saying the Kentucky League of Cities conducts the comprehensive review every three years.
The review examines several areas of a police department’s operations, including policies and procedures, officer training, equipment, safety practices and other matters related to liability and risk management.
Pollock said the perfect score represents years of work by the department to improve its policies, training, equipment and overall operations.
“This is especially meaningful because it marks the first time in the history of the Flemingsburg Police Department that we have achieved a perfect 100% score,” Pollock said in announcing the results.
The chief credited the department’s officers as well as current and former city leaders for helping the agency reach the milestone. He said city officials have supported efforts to improve the department and invest in its operations.
Pollock placed particular emphasis on the work of the officers themselves, saying policies and expectations established by department leadership ultimately depend on officers carrying them out in their daily work.
“A Chief can put policies on paper, set expectations, and provide direction, but it is the officers who carry those standards into the community every single day,” Pollock said.
While celebrating the perfect rating, Pollock said the department now faces the challenge of maintaining the standard it has achieved.
“A 100% score is an accomplishment worth celebrating, but it also sets the standard we intend to maintain,” he said.
The Kentucky League of Cities provides insurance, risk-management and other services to municipalities across Kentucky.
