
Authorities are investigating after a man was found unresponsive inside a vehicle along Interstate 64 early Thursday morning.
According to the Rowan County Coroner’s Office, Morehead Police Dispatch received a call around 5:00 a.m. requesting a welfare check on a passenger vehicle parked on the shoulder of I-64 westbound near the Farmers-Sharkey exit.
Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and discovered an unresponsive male inside the vehicle. Farmers Fire Department and Rowan County EMS were also called to assist.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Rowan County Coroner John P. Northcutt. Officials said the identity of the deceased is currently being withheld pending notification of family members.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by Coroner Northcutt and Rowan County Deputy Sheriff Cam Middleton.
