The Kentucky State Police is stepping into the podcast world with the launch of "Trooper Talk," a new series designed to give listeners an inside look at law enforcement through conversations with the men and women who wear the badge.

According to the agency, the podcast will feature deep dives, unfiltered discussions, and stories from Kentucky State Police troopers across the Commonwealth.

The debut episode, titled "Shining the Brass," features a conversation between Post 11 Trooper Scottie Pennington and Post 16 Trooper Corey King. The agency describes the episode as both humorous and heartfelt, offering listeners a chance to hear personal stories and experiences from two veteran troopers.

A preview released this week gives listeners a glimpse into the relaxed, conversational format, which differs from the agency's traditional news releases and public service announcements.

The Kentucky State Police says new episodes of Trooper Talk will be released every other Tuesday.

Episode two, titled "The Great Honey Bun Fail," is scheduled to premiere July 28.

The podcast is available now through:

  • Apple Podcasts

  • Spotify

  • The Kentucky State Police website

By launching Trooper Talk, the agency joins a growing number of law enforcement organizations using podcasts to connect with the public, explain the work officers do behind the scenes, and share stories that don't often make headlines.

For residents of Eastern Kentucky, the series may also provide an opportunity to hear directly from troopers serving the region, offering insight into both the challenges and lighter moments of policing in the Commonwealth.
