FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) has announced that applications are now being accepted for Cadet Class 108, offering prospective troopers an opportunity to begin a law enforcement career with an increased starting salary and several new incentives.

According to the agency, new troopers entering the program will receive a starting salary of $71,000 per year, reflecting the state's ongoing efforts to recruit and retain qualified law enforcement officers.

In addition to the salary increase, KSP highlighted several benefits available to recruits. Cadets will have the opportunity to earn an associate's degree while attending the academy, helping them further their education while preparing for a career in law enforcement.

The agency is also guaranteeing post assignments for successful applicants who are willing to serve at Posts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 14, providing recruits with greater certainty about where they may be stationed after graduation.

Additional incentives include mileage reimbursement while attending the academy and access to federally funded overtime opportunities once employed. Recruits will complete a 22-week training curriculum designed to prepare them for the wide range of responsibilities faced by Kentucky State Troopers.

The recruitment push comes as law enforcement agencies across Kentucky and the nation continue efforts to attract qualified candidates to public safety careers.
