More than 34 years after he vanished, the disappearance of David Allen Brown continues to raise questions across northeastern Kentucky.

Brown was last seen on November 23, 1991, in the area of Kentucky 344 in Lewis County, Kentucky. Since that day, he has never been heard from again.

According to missing persons information circulated over the years, Brown was approximately 5’8”, weighed around 145 pounds, and had blonde hair and blue eyes. He would now be around 56 years old.

One aspect of the case that has caused confusion over the years is exactly where Brown disappeared from. Some reports and online discussions have claimed that Brown went missing from a business in Morehead.

However, Morehead Minute publisher Joe Clark said a conversation he had several years ago with now-retired Kentucky State Police Trooper Toby Gardner — who worked the case — painted a different picture.

“Trooper Gardner told me he never understood where the story about Morehead came from,” Clark said. “He said David disappeared in Lewis County.”

Clark added that his own research into the case appeared to indicate that Brown had been living in the Laurel Fork area of Lewis County prior to his disappearance.

“This is one of those cases that caught my attention years ago and it’s haunted me ever since,” Clark said. “Someone knows something. And they need to come forward.”

Very little public information has ever been released regarding the circumstances surrounding Brown’s disappearance, leaving many unanswered questions more than three decades later.
