
LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. — Lewis County Schools says it is cooperating with authorities after administrators were notified of an allegation involving a staff member and a student.
According to a statement released by the school district, administrators became aware of the allegation on July 2 and immediately reported the matter to the appropriate authorities, prompting a formal investigation.
District officials said they are working closely with law enforcement and will continue to cooperate throughout the investigation.
The statement also noted that the Kentucky State Police has made contact with the alleged victim and will continue reaching out to anyone investigators may need to interview as the case progresses.
School officials emphasized that protecting the privacy of those involved remains a priority and said the district is committed to taking all appropriate steps to safeguard students and maintain confidentiality during the investigation.
In addition, Lewis County Schools said student safety and well-being remain top priorities. Parents whose children may need support are encouraged to contact their school's principal or counselor by email to arrange an appointment with a school counselor.
At this time, the district has not released additional details regarding the nature of the allegation, the identity of the staff member, or whether any disciplinary or employment actions have been taken while the investigation is ongoing.
