
Lewis County Schools has announced that longtime educator and band director Tyran Ellis will serve as the new principal of Central Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.
According to the school district, Ellis is already a familiar and respected figure throughout Lewis County Schools. Over the years, he has served as a music teacher, band instructor, and high school marching band director, helping guide the district’s “Band of Pride” program to multiple accomplishments, including appearances in KMEA state quarterfinals and semifinals.
School officials praised Ellis for his dedication to students and families, noting his passion for helping young people succeed both in and outside the classroom.
District leaders also highlighted his ability to build strong relationships with students while encouraging them to reach their full potential.
Lewis County Schools stated that Ellis will bring that same level of energy, leadership, and commitment to Central Elementary as he begins this new chapter.
The district also pointed to Ellis’ deep roots in the community and his longstanding service within the school system as reasons he was selected for the leadership role.
A meet-and-greet event for Ellis is expected to be announced soon, with additional details to be released by the school district in the coming days.
Lewis County Schools says they are looking forward to a strong upcoming school year under Ellis’ leadership.
