LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. — State lawmakers announced a major investment package for Lewis County totaling nearly $27.8 million, aimed at improving water infrastructure, parks, highways, bridges, and local roads throughout the county.
The funding announcement was made by State Senator Robin Webb and State Representative Patrick Flannery, who said the projects are designed to strengthen communities and improve quality of life for local residents.
A large portion of the funding — approximately $18 million — has been allocated for the construction of a new regional water treatment plant. Another $1 million will go toward park improvements and upgrades across the county.
Sen. Webb said the investments are intended to help ensure reliable water infrastructure, safer roads, and stronger communities throughout Lewis County.
Rep. Flannery described the funding as a significant win for the county, saying the projects will help improve daily life for families and support future growth and development.
Additional transportation-related funding includes more than $8.5 million for state road projects. Among the largest allocations is $7.48 million designated for reconstruction work along KY-57 from KY-9 to the Fleming County line. Another $1.03 million will be used to address deficiencies and improve safety on the KY-1068 bridge over Laurel Fork, which had previously been identified as structurally deficient during inspections.
Lawmakers also secured $243,000 through the Local Assistance Road Program (LARP), which provides funding to local communities for road resurfacing, rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvements.
According to state officials, the investments are intended to improve transportation safety, strengthen infrastructure, and support economic growth across Lewis County and the surrounding region.
The Kentucky General Assembly adjourned its 2026 Regular Session on April 15 and is scheduled to reconvene for the 2027 session on January 5.
