A Lexington-based security company is facing growing complaints from several current and former workers who claim they experienced delayed compensation while working for the business.

According to reporting by Lexington television station WKYT, multiple individuals connected to Federated Global Ventures LLC say they are owed money for security-related work performed through the company.

Federated Global Ventures, headquartered in Lexington, provides private security services for various public and private projects, including operations connected to Lexington’s temporary winter shelter program.

Several former workers interviewed by WKYT alleged that payments were frequently delayed, sometimes for weeks at a time, creating financial hardship for some individuals involved.

One former worker told WKYT that delayed payments caused concerns involving rent, bills, and everyday expenses. Another individual stated he eventually left the company after coworkers allegedly struggled to receive compensation on time.

Some former workers also questioned whether they should have been classified as independent contractors rather than employees. However, no official ruling regarding worker classification has been announced by any government agency at this time.

In a statement provided to media outlets, Federated Global Ventures denied allegations of wage theft and stated that most individuals working with the company operate as independent contractors under IRS Form 1099 agreements rather than as traditional employees.

The company stated that contractor payment windows extending up to 90 days “are not uncommon” in some industries, while also maintaining that none of its current contractor payment records approach that threshold.

Federated Global Ventures also stated that it has consulted with labor authorities regarding the matter and that no enforcement actions or rulings have been issued against the company.

“We take all compensation matters seriously and remain committed to complying with all applicable federal and state laws,” the company said in its statement.

WKYT also reported that several individuals have filed complaints with the Kentucky Labor Cabinet. As of this publication, no public findings or enforcement actions have been announced.

The Morehead Minute will continue monitoring the situation for any additional verified developments.
