
MOREHEAD, Ky. — The Morehead Fire Department is inviting local teenagers to take their first step toward a future in emergency services with the launch of its new Junior Fire Program.
Designed for youth ages 15 to 17, the program will give participants an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while learning about the fire service from experienced firefighters.
According to the department, participants will receive training, mentorship, and exposure to fire and rescue operations while building valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving. The program is intended not only for those considering a career in firefighting or emergency services, but also for teens looking for a meaningful way to serve their community.
Who Can Apply?
The Junior Fire Program is open to teens who meet the following qualifications:
Ages 15–17
Willingness to learn
Team-oriented mindset
Availability to participate in program activities
Officials say the program is designed to help young people develop confidence, responsibility, and practical skills that can benefit them regardless of the career path they choose.
