MOREHEAD, KY — A 19-year-old Morehead man has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape, according to information released through the Rowan County Detention Center.

JAKOB CARMICHAEL was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center on May 17, 2026, at approximately 8:58 p.m. Records indicate the arrest stems from an alleged offense date of May 16, 2026.

The arrest was made by the Morehead Police Department.

According to detention center records, Carmichael is currently being held on a $20,000 cash bond. Court records listed the case status as open at the time of publication.

Additional details regarding the allegations have not yet been released publicly.

As with all criminal cases, the charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
