WEST LIBERTY, Ky. — Horse enthusiasts from across the region will have an opportunity to enjoy an evening of competition while supporting a local emergency service organization when the Morgan County Rescue Squad Horse Show comes to West Liberty this fall.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Morgan County Equestrian Park, 4465 Liberty Road in West Liberty. Registration will begin at 3 p.m., with the show getting underway at 5 p.m.
Admission is $5, while children ages 10 and younger will be admitted free.
30 Classes Planned
Organizers have put together a large program featuring 30 classes, ranging from events for young and beginning riders to pleasure, racking and championship competitions.
Among the scheduled classes are Lead Line, Trail Pleasure, Beginner Rider, Spotted Horse Pleasure, Juvenile Trail Pleasure, Walking Horse Pleasure, Spotted Horse Racking, Flat Shod Racking, Ladies Pleasure, Doubles, Juvenile Racking, Speed Style Racking, Open Country Pleasure, Open Style Racking, Pick Up Race, Country Pleasure Racking, Open Speed Racking and Men's Racking.
The show will also include a Thin Line Class for active or retired first responders or military personnel, with no entry fee.
A Stick Horse Race will also be offered with free entry.
Most regular classes carry a $10 entry fee.
Championship Competition
The evening will conclude with four championship classes carrying $25 entry fees:
Championship Juvenile Pleasure
Championship Style Racking
Championship Open Pleasure
Championship Open Racking
Guaranteed payouts are being offered in the championship divisions. Organizers say the Juvenile Pleasure Championship will pay $50 for first, $40 for second and $25 for third, regardless of the number of horses entered.
The Style Racking Championship will pay $75 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third.
The Open Pleasure and Open Racking championships each offer guaranteed payouts of $25 for first, $15 for second and $10 for third, with a minimum of five horses required.
Rider and Horse Requirements
All juvenile classes are limited to riders 17 and younger, and stallions will not be permitted in juvenile competition.
Beginner riders may receive assistance, but assistants are not permitted to touch the horse.
Participating horses must also have negative Coggins tests and health papers.
Organizers note that riders and spectators assume the risks inherent to horse activities under Kentucky law.
Supporting Morgan County Rescue Squad
More than an evening of horse competition, the event is designed as a fundraiser for the Morgan County Rescue Squad.
According to organizers, all funds raised from the horse show will go to the rescue squad to purchase new equipment and gear used to serve the community.
The Morgan County Equestrian Park and Morgan County Rescue Squad also advise that they are not responsible for theft, accidents or injuries.
With 30 classes, youth events, championship competition and a community cause behind it, the October horse show promises a full evening for both competitors and spectators while helping provide Morgan County rescuers with equipment needed to continue their work.
