MOREHEAD, KY — A familiar face to many families across Rowan County has officially reached an important milestone in his professional journey.
Nathan Eldridge, an employee of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, has successfully completed the Mortuary Science Program at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service and recently celebrated his graduation alongside family, friends, classmates, and colleagues in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
According to a social media post shared by funeral director John Northcutt, the graduation ceremony was held at Berean Christian Church, where Eldridge’s accomplishments were recognized alongside fellow graduates.
Northcutt praised Eldridge’s dedication and work ethic, noting that his hard work had “truly paid off.” He also highlighted the impact several instructors had on Eldridge’s education, including John T. Hill and Carlton Maye Jr., as well as Ellen Wynn McBrayer, who assisted with the opening ceremony.
Funeral service education requires extensive training in areas such as anatomy, embalming, restorative art, grief counseling, funeral law, and helping families navigate the funeral process during difficult times.
Eldridge previously described earning the degree as a dream fulfilled after years of determination and study.
“This has been a long road, but truly a dream come true for me,” Eldridge said. “I’m incredibly grateful for all the support, encouragement, and prayers from everyone who has been part of this journey while achieving this accomplishment.”
At Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Eldridge has already become a familiar and valued member of the staff, assisting families throughout Rowan County and the surrounding region.
His graduation marks another step forward in a profession dedicated to compassion, service, and care for others during life’s most difficult moments.
