Community leaders, residents, and state representatives gathered on April 22 to celebrate the official grand opening of the new Rowan County Senior Citizen Center, a facility designed to enhance the quality of life for the county’s senior population.

The newly opened center, located on Clearfield Street, spans approximately 6,500 square feet and was developed through years of planning, collaboration, and support from local, state, and regional partners. Leadership from the Rowan County Fiscal Court played a key role in bringing the project to completion.

The modern facility includes a spacious dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, activity and fitness rooms, a game room, outdoor patio space, and administrative offices—all aimed at providing a welcoming and functional environment for older adults in the community.

The grand opening ceremony featured remarks from several local, regional, and state officials, including Rocky Adkins, Senior Advisor to Governor Andy Beshear. The event also included a ribbon cutting, musical performances, and a special recognition of local veterans.

Officials emphasized that beyond the building itself, the center represents a place for connection, growth, and daily engagement for Rowan County seniors.

“This center is about more than services—it’s about community,” one speaker noted during the ceremony.

Organizers expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making the project a reality and to those who attended the celebration. The Rowan County Senior Citizen Center is expected to serve as a vital hub for meals, wellness programs, and social interaction for years to come.
