MOREHEAD, Ky. — One of Rowan County’s funeral homes has received statewide recognition for its decades of service to families across northeastern Kentucky.

During the recent annual meeting of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky (FDAK) in Louisville, Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals was presented with a Silver Certificate recognizing 50 years of service as a funeral firm in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The honor was presented by FDAK President Chad Townsend during the association's conference.

In a social media post following the event, funeral director John Northcutt said he was joined at the ceremony by his father, Denny Northcutt, his mother, Helen Northcutt, and his wife, Tina Northcutt.

The recognition carries special meaning for the Northcutt family, whose connection to funeral service spans multiple generations. John Northcutt noted that his father attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1961 and 1962, while he later attended the same institution from 1981 to 1982.

"It is an honor to carry on a tradition that spans generations," Northcutt said.

Northcutt & Son opened its doors in May 1976 and was the first facility in Rowan County built specifically as a funeral home, according to Northcutt. Over the past five decades, the funeral home has served thousands of families throughout Morehead, Rowan County, and the surrounding region.

The Silver Certificate recognizes funeral firms that have provided continuous service in Kentucky for 50 years, highlighting a commitment to professional standards and community service.

Reflecting on the milestone, Northcutt expressed gratitude for the families who have placed their trust in the funeral home through the years and reaffirmed the firm's commitment to providing compassionate care during times of loss.

"As we look toward the future, we remain committed to providing the highest level of care and service to families during their time of need," he said.
