MOREHEAD, Ky. — Students at Rowan Academy are getting an early jump on their futures thanks to a growing partnership with Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC).
Representatives from MCTC recently visited Rowan Academy to assist students with registering for fall courses, providing hands-on guidance as part of an initiative designed to better prepare students for life after graduation.
The visit allowed students to explore a variety of post-secondary options, including career pathways, dual credit opportunities, and workforce preparation programs. By working directly with college representatives, students were able to ask questions, receive personalized support, and take meaningful steps toward their academic and professional goals.
School officials say opportunities like this are key to building confidence and helping students make informed decisions about their futures.
“This kind of hands-on support gives our students a real advantage,” Rowan Academy shared in a statement. “Whether they’re planning to attend college, enter the workforce, or pursue technical training, these experiences help them take those next steps with confidence.”
The partnership between Rowan Academy and MCTC reflects a broader effort to connect students with real-world opportunities while still in high school—an approach educators say is critical in today’s evolving job and education landscape.
Officials expressed appreciation for MCTC’s continued involvement, noting that collaborations like this continue to open doors for students across Rowan County.
As schools increasingly focus on college and career readiness, programs like this highlight the importance of early exposure, practical guidance, and strong community partnerships in shaping student success.
