Families across Rowan County are invited to spend an afternoon of fun, food, and community connection during the upcoming “Sunday Funday” celebration hosted by the Rowan County Fiscal Court on Sunday, May 17.
The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Harry T. Clark Community Park and will feature games, food trucks, music, pickleball activities, and special community dedications.
According to information released by the Fiscal Court, the event will officially dedicate the park’s new Sports Complex, which was made possible through the generosity of Independent Stave Company and the Boswell family. A new playground will also be dedicated during the event in memory of Janie Holbrook, with organizers noting that the project was supported through meaningful contributions from her friends and family.
Organizers describe the afternoon as a family-friendly gathering designed to bring the community together while highlighting recent improvements to Rowan County’s recreational facilities.
Planned activities include:
Food trucks including Fork and Flame, Meg’s Culinary Kitchen, and Chillbilly Ice Cream
Games and activities for children organized by the Rowan County Extension Office
Pickleball demonstrations and beginner lessons on the new courts
Music and open recreational space for families to enjoy
The Fiscal Court is encouraging residents to bring their families, lawn chairs, and spend the afternoon enjoying the park and connecting with neighbors.
The event is open to the public and free to attend.
