MOREHEAD, Ky. — State Representative Richard White (R-Morehead), who represents Kentucky's 99th House District, has been recognized as a “Taxpayer Defender” by Americans for Prosperity–Kentucky (AFP-KY), an organization that advocates for limited government, economic freedom, and taxpayer-focused public policies.

White announced the recognition Saturday, October 10, in a post on his official Facebook page.

“Proud to be recognized as a Taxpayer Defender by Americans for Prosperity - Kentucky for my voting record protecting taxpayers and advancing limited government policies that make Kentucky a better place to live, work, and raise a family,” White wrote.

The recognition reflects AFP-KY's assessment of White's legislative voting record and his alignment with the organization's policy priorities.

About Americans for Prosperity

Americans for Prosperity is a national conservative advocacy organization that promotes policies centered on limited government, lower taxes, reduced regulation, and economic opportunity.

Its Kentucky chapter works to influence public policy in Frankfort, advocating for legislation it believes will benefit taxpayers, businesses, and working families.

The organization's policy priorities include reducing government spending, expanding economic freedom, and limiting regulatory burdens.

The “Taxpayer Defender” designation is an advocacy organization recognition rather than an official award issued by the Kentucky General Assembly.

Representing the 99th District

White represents House District 99, which includes Rowan, Morgan, and Elliott counties.

A Morehead businessman and owner of Richard White Wood Products, Inc., White has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2020.

According to the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission, White serves as vice chairman of the House Natural Resources and Energy Committee. He is also a member of the House Small Business and Information Technology Committee and the Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee.

His legislative work has included issues involving business development, energy policy, and economic growth.

Recognition of Legislative Voting Record

While White's announcement identifies his voting record as the basis for the recognition, the social media post does not specify which individual votes or legislative measures were considered in awarding the designation.

The recognition comes as White continues representing the three-county district in Frankfort.

White is seeking reelection to the Kentucky House in November 2026.
