Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers says he has not ruled out the possibility of entering Kentucky’s 2027 gubernatorial race, though he emphasized that no final decision has been made.

During an interview Tuesday, the longtime Republican lawmaker from Manchester discussed what could become a crowded and competitive field in the race for governor. Stivers noted that several well-known Republican figures could potentially seek the office, including members of Kentucky’s congressional delegation and other statewide officials.

He suggested the Republican primary could remain wide open depending on who ultimately decides to run, mentioning names such as James Comer, Thomas Massie, and Kentucky’s current secretary of state as possible contenders.

On the Democratic side, Jacqueline Coleman has already announced a campaign for governor, while Rocky Adkins is reportedly considering entering the race as well.

When asked directly about his own political future, Stivers said he is still weighing his options after three decades in public service.

The veteran senator said many people have asked about his future plans, but he has not yet reached a conclusion on whether he wants to remain in his current role or pursue another opportunity after serving in state government for roughly 30 years.
