A Kentucky State Police trooper serving the region has been recognized for his efforts to keep Kentucky roadways safe.

Trooper Jordan Barnett, of Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead, was recently honored during Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Kentucky's Annual Law Enforcement Recognition Event. The award recognizes law enforcement officers from across the Commonwealth who have demonstrated dedication to impaired driving enforcement and public safety.

According to Kentucky State Police, Trooper Barnett was recognized alongside officers from agencies throughout the state for his commitment to reducing impaired driving and helping prevent tragedies on Kentucky's highways.

MADD works closely with law enforcement agencies in its mission to combat drunk and drug-impaired driving. While the decision to drive impaired begins with an individual, organizations such as MADD emphasize the critical role officers play in identifying and stopping dangerous drivers before crashes occur.

Kentucky State Police officials said the recognition reflects Trooper Barnett's commitment to protecting the public and promoting roadway safety throughout the Commonwealth.

The Morehead Minute congratulates Trooper Barnett on this recognition and thanks all law enforcement officers who work to keep Kentucky's roads safe.
