Veterans and their families are invited to spend an afternoon outdoors during the upcoming Veteran Fishing Day scheduled for Sunday, June 7, at the Tailwater Recreation Area below Cave Run Dam.
The event will take place from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Tailwater Recreation Area located at 150 KY Highway 826. Organizers say the gathering is designed to be family-friendly and open to veterans, their loved ones, and members of the community.
The event also falls during Kentucky’s annual Free Fishing Weekend on June 6 and 7, meaning no fishing license will be required for participants.
Those attending can enjoy free food and drinks, along with access to the area’s green picnic shelter and children’s playground.
The event is being promoted through the Salt Lick DAV and Owingsville VFW as a way to honor veterans while encouraging families to enjoy one of the region’s most popular outdoor recreation areas.
